Tris(2,3-dibromopropyl)phosphate is a probable carcinogen to humans (IARC group 2A). it has been shown to cause kidney, liver, stomach and lung cancers in animals.

It is expected that the regulatory action will significantly reduce the potential risk of carcinogenic effects to workers and others involved, especially in plastic and textile manufacturing industries.
