Summary of known hazards and risks to the environment: SCCP are very toxic to aquatic organisms, especially daphnids. They degrade slowly in the environment and have a high potential for bioaccumulation. Their negative long term effects in the aquatic environment, the risk of secondary poisening of predators through the food chain, and their potential for long range transport via air and water give rise to serious concerns.
