Summary of the final regulatory action:

This pesticide has not been registered for use in Trinidad and Tobago because

of its highly toxic nature. As a Result the pesticides and toxic chemicals control

board has prohibited the manufacture, importation, trade and use of Chlordane.

This is in keeping with provisions under the pesticides and toxic Chemicals

control act 1979 and the pesticides regulations of 1987.

Chlordane is highly toxic to human and animals as well as being persistent and is bio-

accumulative with the possibility of being carcinogenic

Expected effect of the final regulatory action in relation to human health:

To aid in more stringent regulatory control regarding the registration, imporiation

and use of this pesticide. To prevent the risk of exposure and poisoning by this

pesticide.

Summary of known hazards and risks to the environment:

This pesticide is highly toxic to aquatic Organisms and bio-accumulates in the environment.

Expected effect of the final regulatory action in relation to the environment:

To prevent exposure of wildlife and aquatic organisms to contamination and poisoning by this

product
