On 27 June 2013, the Environmental Protection Authority of New Zealand under the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996 (HSNO Act) decided that all approvals for the import, manufacture or use of phorate and phorate products were to be revoked. The ban (including on use) took effect from 1 July 2016 which allowed stocks to be disposed of through use.
